You should try to book your jump several days in advance to ensure availability.
Mile High
Parachuting uses a state of the art Tandem parachute system which
allows you to perform your first skydive attached to your instructor.
This reduces the amount of training required for a first skydive since
the tandem instructor takes care of all the necessary details during
your flight. This will allow you to sit back and enjoy the ride. This
method of parachuting is great for those who prefer a simple
introduction to the sport or are considering skydiving as a hobby or
sport.
Preparing For Your First Tandem Skydive
You can prepare for this wonderful experience by getting lots of sleep
the night before your jump. The day of your jump eat normally until
about 2 hours before your jump then keep your meals light. You should
also allow 3-4 hours for the whole process of the training and the
skydive.
Prerequisites
Age: You must be at least 18 years of age with ID.
Weight: For safety reasons the maximum weight limit is 230 lbs.
Physical Condition: You should be in good physical condition, please
consult with your doctor.
What You Will Need To Bring
We will have almost every thing ready for you once you arrive. We
supply jumpsuits, goggles, and helmets. The wearing of contact lenses
or eye glasses is permitted. You should have a pair of running shoes or
a pair of hiking boots (no hooks or heels please) and some comfortable
clothing (nothing too tight or restrictive). During the spring and fall
warm clothing is advisable. Also you should bring valid photo ID
(drivers license or passport) and you must be 18 years of age or older
Your First Jump
On your first jump you will receive approximately 20 minutes of
ground training from a certified instructor. You will then
be fitted with a harness that will allow you to be securely attached to
your instructor for your jump. You will then board the aircraft for
your flight that will take you to approximately 10,000 ft (above ground
level). Once at altitude, you will exit the aircraft together with your
instructor, as rehearsed in the ground training, for the free fall
portion of your jump. The sensation of Freefall is actually more like
floating, rather than falling, this will last for about 30 seconds at
which point you tandem instructor will deploy your main parachute.
While under canopy you can sit back and enjoy the view of the beautiful
Ottawa valley. This will last for about 6-7 minutes before your
instructor assists you with your landing back at the Dropzone
